The concrete objective of the project Happy Home Wallet is to activate a partnership dedicated to the promotion of the strategy “zero waste” through the comparison that will permit to acquire competences in economics, environmental sustainability, energy saving, proper management of economic family resources.

Subjects and problems

The European economic crisis fell concretely on household wallets spilled over daily choices and lifestyle of millions of Europeans. The cost of living has grown significantly and at the same time many people have lost their jobs, thus creating a further imbalance between revenues and expenditures in household budgets.

Approach

To balance the family budget is necessary to re-think our consumerism, limit waste and reorganize resources, according to a new philosophy that combines micro and macro economic aspects with environmental sustainability.

The approach is therefore to look back to rediscover the value of knowledge of the reuse and reduce that was, not long time ago, the basis of the local economy. This project topic opens another approach to involve different generations in an informal way, to share their experiences, knowledge and to develop new activities together focused on the implementation of its philosophy: to know, to change, to be able to do.

We’ll do that by:

Create a dialogue between adult education providers, municipalities, experts in the field of waste management, sustainable materials on local and transnational level to reflect about personal and socio-cultural consumption patterns and its impact on local economy.
Undertake research and collect and document interesting examples, approaches and good practices in savings and reusing at home and share this information.
Develop our local and personal approaches to equilibrate the home budgets and sustainable consumption
deliver local & transnational workshops to transmit sustainable environment approaches, knowledge about waste management and recycling, basic financial knowledge.
Blog about our findings and work process.
Create a guide/booklet which contains best practices & approaches to save resources, be sustainable and having a balanced budget.

All the results of the project will be disseminated and available to local and European stakeholders and public.
